Man allegedly raped several women in the same area
Limpopo police have made a significant breakthrough in the arrest of an alleged serial rapist who is believed to be connected to multiple rape incidents.
The suspect, a 32-year-old man, was apprehended on Friday morning, according to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the provincial police spokesperson.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect is linked to three separate rape cases that occurred between the years 2023 and 2024 in the Letsitele policing area.
Ledwaba stated, “His reign of terror started in February 2023, followed by several other women who were raped in the area by the alleged suspect.”
Ledwaba commended the police team for their extensive investigation, which led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect.
The police received a tip-off, and with the assistance of an off-duty Tactical Response Team member and Flying Squad units, they were able to trace and apprehend the suspect in Mahlomeni village.
While the suspect has been linked to three cases of rape, further investigations are underway to determine if he could be connected to other similar incidents.
Ledwaba emphasized the commitment of the police force to thoroughly investigate and bring justice to the victims of sexual assault.
The arrest of this alleged serial rapist is a significant step towards ensuring the safety and protection of women in the Letsitele area.
