Man beats relative to death before killing neighbour

A man was arrested for allegedly attacking and killing his 99-year-old neighbour.

This gruesome act came after the man had already allegedly beaten a visiting relative to death.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa provided details about the two separate incidents that occurred in the Amathole district on Thursday.

According to Mawisa, the relative had visited the man at his home in Ndlambe Village, located outside Peddie.

Unfortunately, the 55-year-old visitor was viciously attacked and beaten to death by the accused.

Following the incidents, the man was promptly apprehended by the authorities and now faces charges of two counts of murder.

While the motive behind these violent acts remains unclear, this tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

In a seperate incident, on Sunday evening, December 17, 2023, in Graaff Reinet, a suspect was arrested while riding a bus headed to the Western Cape. The suspect was wanted for the murder of a Community Police Forum (CPF) member who was killed earlier this month in Gugulethu.
