7 illegal Zimbabwean immigrants arrested for robbery

Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, the Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Gauteng, has praised the Diepsloot Trio task team for arresting seven Zimbabwean suspects involved in house robbery.

The task team acted swiftly on information about the suspects’ location, coordinating with station detectives, visible policing members, and undercover officers from the Ivory Park Police Station and JMPD.

The team targeted the suspects’ hideout in Kaalfontein, Ivory Park, and apprehended seven suspects in possession of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.These suspects are linked to a case of house robbery that occurred in Extension 13 in February 2024.

The Trio task team believes these suspects have been terrorizing the Diepsloot community.

Investigations are ongoing to connect these suspects with multiple cases of murder, attempted murder, and robberies, including the shooting of a police officer on November 17, 2023, and a grade 12 learner from Diepsloot Combined School on April 23, 2024.

The seven suspects, all illegal immigrants from Zimbabwe aged between 20 and 35, will appear in Randburg Magistrate’s Court on April 24, 2024.

They face charges of house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and contravention of the Immigration Act.
